Started in sales at a national charity-sector organisation and progressed internally into the finance department, working under the Finance Director and co-owner — while the business grew from around 80 heads to 600+ direct employees and roughly 1,000 temporary staff across six UK sites. Commercial instinct first; then the numbers behind it, at scale.
Built an independent payroll bureau on the side, then all-in: 80+ clients across hospitality and retail — end-to-end PAYE, pensions and HMRC compliance. Led the book through COVID-19, administering the furlough scheme across a hospitality-heavy client base while restructuring to a leaner core. Compliance under pressure, for years.
Ran client aftercare and sales inside a UK façade & glazing group — the client relationships, the site workflows, the pipeline. The stage that matters most for what came next: I did the actual job before I ever automated it.
Went independent and took that same business from no job-management platform to a three-company ERP estate — configuration, security, training, adoption — then built the AI layer on top: revenue engines that scored 349 customers and 884 sites, agentic dashboards, assistant skills project managers use daily, and a verification discipline that once caught a six-figure reconciliation gap before it reached anyone's decisions. Now Principal of Alchemy Services, coaching directors on AI from its infancy and building for the wider SimPro ecosystem.
